| #30266 | Experiences: Replace & load all assets (all experiences) View Detail |
In Progress | Eric Barone | - | 11.62 | - | 11.5 | Very High |
SOURCE: Barrett / FAO Experiences restart, June 2026. BACKGROUND: FAO is replacing essentially every creative asset across all 7 live experiences (Steiff, Barbie, BaubleBar, Brio, Handbag, My FAO Doll, Schleich). This task covers loading and wiring the new client-delivered assets into the staging theme (testfaostore.myshopify.com, theme FAO-Schwarz-Zettler Digital), distinct from the feature/dev tasks (#29670-#29681) which build the capabilities. SCOPE (per the Asset Delivery tab of the RICO Copy Experiences workbook): banner images (desktop 2000x200 + mobile 750x250 via experience-heading); full-width product vector images (uploaded as each product featured image); step videos + poster images (Shopify Files, wired via experience_step_N_videos page metaobjects); step icons; step-tracker background; product-grid background; confirmation compilation images (product metafield custom.confirmation_step_image); hover-state images (product metafield custom.hover_grid_image). APPROACH: upload to Shopify Files, set product/page metafields and metaobjects per experience per product. Asset production is client/design side; this is the RICO load/wire effort. Reference the Asset Delivery + Settings Map tabs. |

SOURCE:
Client request from Blake Gillan (MerchSource) via email 03/26/2026. Ref: FAO Schwarz Experiences Consolidated New Requests - Feb 2026 spreadsheet.
BACKGROUND:
RICO has been assigned 12 implementation tasks across the FAO Schwarz Experiences Shopify site. All experiences were built by Zettler Digital and RICO has not previously worked in this codebase. This discovery task is required to understand the architecture before implementation begins.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Review and document the Shopify theme structure and custom experience framework built by Zettler Digital
- Catalog all metafield and metaobject schemas used across the 7-8 experiences (BaubleBar, BRIO, Steiff, Schleich, Barbie, My FAO Doll, Handbags, JellyCat)
- Identify shared templates vs. per-experience templates and document the component hierarchy
- Document the video integration pipeline (Vimeo embedding, metaobject rendering pattern)
- Produce a technical reference document covering architecture, metafield schemas, and key dependencies for use by the implementation team
TEST CASES:
- Architecture document covers all 7-8 experiences with template and metafield mappings
- Video integration pipeline is documented with Vimeo configuration details
ESTIMATED TIME: 9 to 10 hours
ESTIMATE INCLUDES:
Production (5h), Test Cases (2), Quality Assurance (1h), BETA Testing (0.5h), Technical Management (0.65h), Project Management (0.98h)
Production Detail: None
ESTIMATE NOTES:
Estimate Valid Until: 05/11/2026. Due to the dynamic nature of web applications, this estimate is valid only until 05/11/2026, after which time the proposed work will need to be re-estimated to account for any application changes influencing the original scope or approach.

| #29673 | Step Icons Under Step Headings View Detail |
In Progress | Blake Gillan (MerchSource) | 7 | 5 | 2 | 5 | Very High |
SOURCE:
Client request from Blake Gillan (MerchSource) via email 03/26/2026. Ref: Spreadsheet item #7.
PREREQUISITES: #29669
BACKGROUND (revised 2026-06-10 per FAO designer, Ilya):
Display a configurable icon for each step in the experience step tracker, across all experiences. The icon renders inside the step's numbered pill (replacing the number), and icons are chosen from a built-in icon library (a consistent line-icon set, including custom icons matching FAO products such as a teddy bear, doll, train, and animals) rather than per-step uploaded image files. Configurable per experience and per step. (Original direction: an uploaded image below each step heading.)
REQUIREMENTS:
- Provide a built-in curated icon-library dropdown (line-icon set including custom FAO product icons) selectable per step - no manual image uploads.
- Render the chosen icon inside the step's pill (replacing the number); a step with no icon keeps its number.
- The icon inherits step styling - neutral by default, the brand accent color on the active step.
- Configurable per experience and per step.
- Implement across all 7-8 experiences.
TEST CASES:
- The selected icon displays inside each step's pill across experiences (desktop and mobile).
- The active step's icon shows in the accent color; other steps display correctly.
- A step with no icon selected falls back to its number.
- Experiences without icons configured are unaffected.
ESTIMATED TIME: 6 to 7 hours
ESTIMATE INCLUDES:
Production (3h), Test Cases (1), Quality Assurance (0.55h), BETA Testing (0.5h), Technical Management (0.41h), Project Management (0.61h)

| #29679 | Background Imagery Behind Step Headings View Detail |
In Progress | Blake Gillan (MerchSource) | 7 | 5.01 | 1.99 | 5 | Very High |
SOURCE:
Client request from Blake Gillan (MerchSource) via email 03/26/2026. Ref: Spreadsheet item #16.
PREREQUISITES: #29669
BACKGROUND (revised 2026-06-10 per FAO designer, Ilya):
Clarified from "background imagery behind step headings": the goal is for the step heading and the Next/Previous buttons to share the experience's own font and colors as the user progresses through the steps, and for the product Select buttons and the selected-product highlight to be color-configurable per experience. (Original direction: a background image behind the step tracker.)
REQUIREMENTS:
- Per-experience Experience Font selection applied to the step heading and the Next/Previous buttons.
- Per-experience colors: step heading; Next button (background/text/border, filled); Previous button (outline using the button color).
- Per-experience Select button colors (default and selected states).
- Per-experience configurable selected-product outline color.
- All settings optional (unset = current look); implement across all experiences.
TEST CASES:
- The chosen font applies to the step heading and Next/Previous buttons.
- Next renders filled and Previous renders as an outline, in the configured colors.
- Select-button, selected-state, and selected-product-outline colors apply.
- Unset settings retain the current look; other experiences unaffected.
ESTIMATED TIME: 6 to 7 hours
ESTIMATE INCLUDES:

| #30291 | Steiff: Confirmation Step Redesign (Single Summary Card with Personalized Tag) View Detail |
In Progress | Eric Barone | 4 | 4.51 | OVER +0.51 | 2.5 | High |
SOURCE:
Barrett Goldberg (RICO), experiences design review, 06/10/2026. Modeled on the BaubleBar experience, whose confirmation layout FAO liked.
BACKGROUND:
When a shopper finished building their Steiff bear, the final review step showed a set of flat, disconnected boxes: a raw copy of the product card and a plain text line for the name they typed, with no visual of the personalized tag they just created. It did not feel like the finale of a premium personalization experience, and it fell short of the polished single-card summary the BaubleBar experience already presents. The review step is the shopper's last look before checkout, so it needs to sell the finished product.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Present the completed Steiff build as one unified summary card showing the chosen bear prominently, with the bear's name and a Change option in the card.
- Present the shopper's personalized tag inside the summary card, rendering the exact name they typed on the tag graphic.
- Ensure the personalized tag in the summary updates immediately whenever the shopper edits their name or changes their bear.
- Ensure the action buttons on the review step match the experience's configured brand colors.
- Enable FAO to adjust the summary card's background color from the theme editor without developer involvement.
APPROACH:
Replicate the proven BaubleBar confirmation layout, re-scoped to the Steiff experience section: one bordered summary box with the selected bear painted as the hero image, the bear name with Change control at the top right, and the personalized tag graphic with its Change control at the bottom left. The tag graphic is cloned from the Personalize Tag step so there is a single source of truth, with the typed name stamped onto it live. A new theme-editor color setting controls the card background. Work completed on the experiences development theme and carried into the consolidated "FAO Experiences: RICO Updates (Final)" theme on 06/10/2026.
TEST CASES:
- Build a Steiff bear, enter a name, and reach the review step: one summary card shows the bear as the hero, the bear name top right, and the personalized tag bottom left with the typed name on it. Verified on the Final theme preview 06/10/2026.
- Use Change to pick a different bear and edit the name: the card hero, bear name, and tag all refresh to the new selections.
ESTIMATED TIME: 3 to 4 hours
ESTIMATE INCLUDES:
- Confirmation step layout rebuild matching the BaubleBar single-card design
- Live personalized-tag rendering and selection-change syncing
- Button color alignment and the new background color setting
- End-to-end verification of the build flow on the staging preview
ESTIMATE NOTES:
Work is complete on the unpublished "FAO Experiences: RICO Updates (Final)" theme on the staging store; it goes live when that theme is published. Tag position, size, and color values are first-pass and easy to fine-tune on request.

| #30279 | Experiences: Wire Confirmed Products Into Each Experience View Detail |
In Progress | Barrett Goldberg | 16 | 1.75 | 14.25 | 1.75 | Moderate |
SOURCE:
Product lists supplied by MerchSource as each experience is finalized. First delivery: Blake Gillan (MerchSource), email "Products for Barbie", 06/09/2026.
PREREQUISITES: #29669
BACKGROUND:
FAO is supplying the final retail products for each interactive experience as merchandising confirms them. The experiences currently display stand-in sample products; these need to be replaced with the real items shoppers will buy so each experience reflects the actual 2026 assortment and checks out at correct prices. The Barbie assortment is the first delivered, and its outfit set includes two looks that must each be sold as a single bundled item.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Ensure each experience presents the final confirmed products for its assortment instead of placeholder samples.
- Ensure every selectable product in an experience exists in the catalog at its correct retail price.
- Ensure a completed build adds exactly the products the shopper selected to the cart at their real prices.
- Ensure bundled outfits are presented and purchased as a single item.
- Deliver the Barbie assortment first: the six confirmed dolls and the confirmed outfit set, selectable and verified.
APPROACH:
Replace the placeholder product selections in each experience with the confirmed catalog products, populate the supporting product imagery, and verify the build-and-checkout flow per experience. Sequence the work experience-by-experience as assortments are confirmed, starting with Barbie. Per-experience prerequisite: the products, including any bundles, exist in the catalog with retail prices.
TEST CASES:
- Each experience's selection screens show only confirmed products, with no placeholder samples remaining.
- Selecting items and checking out produces a cart of exactly those products at their correct retail prices.
- A bundled outfit appears and is added to the cart as one item.
- In Barbie, all six dolls and each confirmed outfit are selectable and check out correctly.
ESTIMATED TIME: 14 to 16 hours

In Progress | Blake Gillan (MerchSource) | 39 | 0 | 39 | 0 | None |
SOURCE:
Client request from Blake Gillan (MerchSource) via email 03/26/2026. Ref: Spreadsheet item #13.
PREREQUISITES: #29669
BACKGROUND:
Implement a function to display a rendered lifestyle image based on the user selection combinations at the confirmation step. Applies to Barbie and My FAO Doll experiences. Per Zettler notes, this is similar to how the video function works using metaobjects that render the proper image based on selections made. Note: Blake asked if RICO could implement this internally. The Barbie Experience Review tab has no review data yet, so requirements for that experience may shift. This is the most architecturally complex task in the project.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Create a rendering pipeline that maps user selection combinations to lifestyle images via metaobjects
- Display the rendered lifestyle image at the confirmation step of the Barbie experience
- Display the rendered lifestyle image at the confirmation step of the My FAO Doll experience
- Handle all valid selection combinations with appropriate fallback if an image is not available
TEST CASES:
- Correct lifestyle image renders at confirmation for various Barbie selection combinations
- Correct lifestyle image renders at confirmation for various My FAO Doll selection combinations
